On December 30th 2010, I lost my best friend, Darby. He was killed by a hit and run driver. He was so strong, that we didn't know
that he had been injured at first, he held on until he saw me one last time. Then he collapsed in my arms, and despite extensive
efforts to save him, his injuries were too severe, and he died in the afternoon.
He was my baby, and my constant companion.
I loved him from the moment I saw him at the pound. I saw he and his two little sisters, not more than 6 or 8 weeks old, looking like
little polar bear cubs. I knew instantly that he would be my dog. Darby was the sweetest, most loyal and loving dog anyone
could imagine. For those of you that know me or this place, you know that he is as much a part of it as I am. He was with me
before I opened this place, he grew up in my studio, he filled this place with his beautiful self. The loss of Darby is beyond
words for me to describe. He was my family, and I still can't believe that he is gone. I keep thinking I will turn around
and he will be there, like always. I miss him with all my heart. He will always be remembered. He will always be loved.
And he will always be missed. I love you Darby, you will always be my baby.
